How do I get AI meeting notes into Slack automatically?
To get AI meeting notes into Slack automatically, connect your notetaker's Slack app and choose a channel or DM for recaps after each meeting. Fireflies, Read AI, Circleback, Otter, tl;dv, Fellow and Granola all document this on their own help or integration pages. Fathom's Slack help article covers highlight clips, while its integrations page says it can also post an AI summary to a channel. For a private channel, add the app's bot first.
Short answer
- Fireflies says "By default, Fireflies sends meeting notes to Slack for every meeting" once you set up a configuration [1].
- Read AI's Slack features "are available to all Read AI users, including those on the Free plan"; Circleback says Slack automations are on "every plan, including Free" [2, 3].
- Fathom's Slack help article covers highlight clips to public channels only [4]; Fathom's integrations page says it can also post an AI call summary to a Slack channel automatically after a call [16]. The Slack help article doesn't describe summary posts.
- Read AI posts meeting reports only to public channels; its help pages say sharing to private channels "is currently unavailable" [2, 5, 8].
We haven't run this test yet. Where a table shows a product's behaviour, it's what that product's maker says, checked on 4 November 2026.
Disclosure. Candor is an app that will compete with some products named here. We describe every product, including Candor, from its own documentation, and we'll test them all with the same published method.
How a meeting-notes post to Slack works
This is a push, and it's simpler than a CRM sync. When the notetaker finishes the summary, it calls Slack's API as its own bot and posts a message to a destination you picked in advance. There's no record matching. The only rules are which meetings trigger a post and where it goes.
Think of it as a standing order with a newsagent: you say "every Monday's paper to this address," and it arrives whether you read it or not. That's useful for a team channel and noisy if every one-to-one also lands there, which is why most apps offer filters. Fireflies' filters (Integration Rules) need its Business plan or higher [1].
Three things decide whether a post shows up:
- The bot has to be in the channel for private channels. Fireflies, Circleback, Fellow, Granola, Otter and tl;dv all say to add their app to the private channel first [1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10].
- Your accounts may need to match. Granola says your Granola and Slack email addresses must be the same, and it needs a Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account [7].
- Some apps post a summary that outlives the note. Granola says making a note private later "does not remove or hide the summary text already posted in Slack" [7].
Which notetakers post to Slack natively?
From each maker's own Slack help page, integration page or pricing page.
| App | Plan | Automatic posting | Destinations | Private channels |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fireflies | Noplan named for Slack; filters need Business or higher [1] | Every meeting by default [1] | Public channel, private channel, DM [1] | Yesafter /invite @Fireflies [1] |
| Read AI | All plans, including free [2] | Yesmeeting reports, pre-reads, weekly recaps [2] | "Only me" DM, DMs to people with access, a channel [2] | Public channels only; private sharing "is currently unavailable" [2, 5, 8] |
| Circleback | "Every plan, including Free" [3] | Yesafter every meeting or matching conditions [3] | Channel [3] | Yesadd the app first [3] |
| Otter | "Available for all Otter plans" [9] | For recurring meetings you link to a channel [9] | Channels [9] | Yesadd the Otter app first [9] |
| tl;dv | Not stated on the Slack article [10] | Yesa workflow triggered when "A new meeting recording is ready" [10] | Channel or DM [10] | Yesafter adding tl;dv from the channel's Integrations tab [10] |
| Fellow | Free plan includes Slack Integration [17] | Yesper meeting series [6] | Public or private channel, DM [6] | Yes/invite @Fellow [6] |
| Granola | Slack is included on the free Basic plan [11] | For notes added to a folder with Slack turned on [7] | Channels only [7] | Yesadd the Granola app [7] |
| Fathom | Not stated for clips or summary posts [4, 16] | Highlight clips: clicking a connected highlight button during a call sends that clip to Slack after the meeting [4]. AI call summary to a chosen channel after each call, per Fathom's integrations page [16]; the Slack help article gives no setup steps for it [4] | Public channels only [4] | No[4] |
Notion AI Meeting Notes isn't a Slack integration, so it isn't in the table. Notion's release notes (31 July 2026) list "Post a recap to Slack or email with decisions and next steps" as a Custom Agent workflow started by the "Meeting note summarized" trigger, and say Custom Agents for post-meeting work are "Available on Business and Enterprise plans" [12].
What each one sends
| App | Summary | Action items | Transcript | Link back |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fireflies | Overview summary in the main message; bullet notes in a thread [1] | Checklist in the thread [1] | Not mentioned [1] | Title links to the recap [1] |
| Read AI | Meeting recap [5] | Not verified[5] | Not verified[5] | Not verified[5] |
| Circleback | Notes [3] | Yesif selected [3] | Not stated; the Slack automation sends notes and/or action items [3] | Not stated [3] |
| Otter | Automatic summary [9] | Mentions and assignments arrive as notifications [9] | Not stated [9] | Rich preview of the Otter link [9] |
| tl;dv | AI Notes, or the output of a custom prompt [10] | Not a separate variable [10] | Transcript variable [10] | Meeting URL variable [10] |
| Fellow | AI summaries and key decisions [6] | Yes[6] | Not stated [6] | Not stated [6] |
| Granola | A summary of the note [7] | Not stated [7] | Not stated [7] | Link to the note [7] |
How do I set it up?
Using Fireflies as the example [1]:
- In Fireflies, open Integrations, search for Slack Assistant, click Connect and sign in to Slack.
- Pick a destination (public channel, private channel or DM) and click Allow. For a private channel, type
/invite @Firefliesin it first. - Create a Slack configuration: choose the channel, add an optional intro line, and click "Create sample meeting" to send a test.
- Check the sample in Slack, then click Continue. Nothing posts until a configuration exists.
- On Business or higher, add Integration Rules so only some meetings post.
Equivalent switches elsewhere:
- Read AI: Integrations → Messaging → Slack → Connect, then choose "Only me", "People with access" or "Send to a channel" under Report Distribution [13, 5].
- Otter: Settings → Connected apps → Slack → Add, connect your calendar, then pick a channel for each recurring meeting [9].
- Granola: Settings → Connectors → Slack, then open a folder, click Integrations and choose a channel. Only notes added after that get posted [7].
- tl;dv: disconnect the legacy Slack integration first; tl;dv warns the two "can interfere with each other" [10].
What if my notetaker can't post to Slack?
Use Zapier or Make: a trigger such as "new AI summary" and an action such as "send channel message." Zapier is one route for Fathom summaries (Zapier lists a "New AI Summary" Fathom trigger) [18]; Fathom's integrations page also says it can post an AI summary to a Slack channel directly [16]. Fathom's plan help lists a "personal-use Zapier integration" on Free and Premium [14]. Fireflies, tl;dv and Read AI also have Zapier listings, but each already has a native option.
The other route is pulling: connect the notetaker's MCP server and Slack to an AI assistant and ask it to post. Granola's own Chat can draft Slack messages "with a review step before anything is sent" [15]. That's manual each time.
What this page can't tell you
- What the posts actually look like, or whether any app double-posts. We haven't connected one.
- Whether or when Read AI will support private channels; its help pages say private sharing is currently unavailable.
- Plan requirements for tl;dv's Slack workflows, which its Slack article doesn't state. Fellow's pricing page lists Slack Integration on its Free plan [17]; Fathom's pages don't name a plan for summary posts, and its Slack help article doesn't describe them [4, 16].
