# How do I capture slides and screens in my meeting notes?

On a Mac, press Shift-Command-4 to capture part of the screen during a call [1], or use your meeting app's own tool: Zoom's desktop app takes a screenshot with Command-T [2]. In Teams, an organiser with Teams Premium can block captures [3]. On some Workspace editions, Google Meet's notes can add screenshots of presented content, such as slides, automatically [4], and some notetakers keep screenshots next to the transcript.

Disclosure: Candor is an app that will compete with some products named here. We describe every product, including Candor, from its own documentation, and we'll test them all with the same published method.

We haven't run this test yet. Where a table shows a product's behaviour, it's what that product's maker says, checked on 4 November 2026.

> **Short answer**
> - macOS: Shift-Command-4 for part of the screen, Shift-Command-4 then Space for one window, Shift-Command-5 for the Screenshot tools. Files go to the desktop. [1]
> - Zoom's desktop app lists Command-T as its screenshot shortcut on a Mac. [2]
> - If you can't capture a Teams meeting, the organiser may have turned on Prevent screen captures, a Teams Premium option. On the Mac desktop app, attendees then join audio only. [3]
> - Google Meet's "Take notes for me" can add screenshots of presented content to its notes on some Workspace editions, and presenters get a notice. [4]
> - A screenshot on your desktop isn't linked to your notes. Mark the moment as well, so you can find what was said about the slide.

## How do I take a screenshot during a meeting on a Mac?

macOS has screenshot shortcuts you can use over a meeting window, though Apple notes that some apps may not let you capture their windows: [1]

1. **Part of the screen:** press Shift-Command-4, then drag across the slide.
2. **One window:** press Shift-Command-4, then press the Space bar and click the meeting window.
3. **The whole screen:** press Shift-Command-3.
4. **More options, including screen recording:** press Shift-Command-5.

Apple says these files are saved to the desktop, and that some apps may not let you capture their windows. [1] Capturing only the shared-content area keeps faces and chat out of the image, which is kinder to the other participants and easier to read later.

## How does each meeting app handle screenshots?

| Meeting app | Built-in way to capture | What can stop a capture | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zoom (desktop app) | Command-T takes a screenshot on a Mac (Alt-Shift-T on Windows). Change it in Settings → Keyboard shortcuts. | Not documented on the page cited | [2] |
| Microsoft Teams | No screenshot button documented on the page cited. Use the macOS shortcuts. | Prevent screen captures, set by an organiser with Teams Premium | [3] |
| Google Meet | "Take notes for me" can add screenshots of presented content to its notes | Users can turn it off in the notes panel; admins choose whether it's always allowed or only when the meeting is recorded | [4] |
| Candor | Take screenshot and Start screen recording from the active meeting or the notch ([Capture visual context](https://candor.inc/docs/meetings/highlights-and-visuals#capture-visual-context)) | Screenshot and highlight tools are unavailable while the meeting is paused, and an active screen recording pauses with it ([While capture is paused](https://candor.inc/docs/meetings/highlights-and-visuals#while-capture-is-paused)) | Candor docs [5] |

## Why can't I take a screenshot in a Teams meeting?

The usual reason is a setting called Prevent screen captures. Microsoft says it's off by default, and organisers and co-organisers with a Teams Premium licence can turn it on for a meeting under Meeting options → Advanced protection. [3] Attendees don't need Premium for it to apply to them.

What you see depends on your device. On Windows, Microsoft says screenshots show a black rectangle over the meeting window. The Teams desktop app for macOS and Teams on the web aren't supported, so attendees there join an audio-only experience, and there's no shared screen to capture. [3]

If the organiser turned this on, treat it as a request not to copy what's shown. Ask them to share the slides afterwards instead.

## Can Google Meet put the slides into its notes?

On some Workspace editions, yes. Google announced on 3 August 2026 that "Take notes for me" can capture screenshots of presented content and include them in the notes document, so charts and diagrams appear next to the text. [4] Google says presenters get a notice that screenshots may be taken, users can turn the feature off from the notes panel, and admins choose whether to allow it always or only when the meeting is being recorded. [4] Google lists Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education. [4]

## How do I mark the moment so I can find it later?

A screenshot shows what was on screen. It doesn't tell you what was said about it or when. The fix is to note the time.

- **Writing your own notes:** type the time and a few words ("14:32 pricing slide, Priya disagrees"), then name the screenshot to match.
- **With a recorder or notetaker:** use its highlight or bookmark button at that moment, so the mark sits in the transcript and you can jump back to the exact passage.
- **After the call:** put each image beside its paragraph in the notes. A folder of untitled screenshots is rarely opened again.

Our [five-minute review of AI meeting notes](https://candor.inc/guides/review-meeting-notes) explains how to check a summary against the transcript before sharing it.

## How does Candor capture slides and moments?

Candor is one example of a notetaker that keeps visuals with the meeting. In Candor, choosing Mark moment during capture adds the mark to the saved meeting's Notes, and View marked passage opens that point in the transcript ([Mark an important moment](https://candor.inc/docs/meetings/highlights-and-visuals#mark-an-important-moment)). Take screenshot and Start screen recording capture the active meeting display directly, without a target picker, so you should make sure that display shows only what you want to capture. [5] Candor's screen recordings include meeting audio, and the video, its sound and screenshots stay on your Mac and are never uploaded by Candor, including for summaries, Talk, Voice Actions or memory ([Visuals stay on your Mac](https://candor.inc/docs/privacy/local-content#visuals-stay-on-your-mac)). Shared Candor meeting-note links contain text, not these local files. [6] You can join the Candor waitlist at candor.inc.

## Should I ask before capturing someone's slides?

Yes, as a courtesy, and sometimes it's required. A deck can hold unreleased numbers or a client's data, and a screen recording also captures voices. Ask the presenter whether you can keep a copy, or whether they'll send the slides. If your notetaker records audio or the screen, our guide to recording and consent covers the questions to settle first. This is general information, not legal advice.

## What this page can't tell you

We haven't checked where each method saves its files in practice, or whether a capture works with every presenter's setup. Microsoft's and Google's features depend on licences and admin settings that can differ from the help pages.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I take a screenshot during a Teams meeting on a Mac?

Use the macOS shortcuts: Shift-Command-4 for part of the screen, or Shift-Command-4 then Space for the meeting window [1]. If the organiser turned on Teams Premium's Prevent screen captures, Microsoft says the Mac desktop app joins audio only, so there's nothing to capture [3].

### How do I take a screenshot in Google Meet?

On a Mac, use Shift-Command-4 and drag across the shared slide [1]. On some Workspace editions, Meet's "Take notes for me" can also add screenshots of presented content to its notes automatically [4].

### Which AI meeting tools highlight important moments?

Look for a notetaker that lets you mark a moment during the call, so the mark appears in the notes and opens the transcript passage. Candor's Mark moment control does this, and in any notes app you can type a timestamp yourself.

### Is there a Mac meeting app that keeps screenshots with the transcript?

Yes. Google Meet's "Take notes for me" can put screenshots of presented content into its notes on some Workspace editions [4]. Candor saves its screenshots and screen recordings in the meeting, where you open them from a thumbnail, and they stay on your Mac.
